Delivered at Place Unloaded (DPU) Meaning

Delivered at Place Unloaded (DPU) is a trade rule where the seller is responsible for getting the goods to a named destination and unloading them. The seller carries the risk and main costs up to the moment the cargo is safely unloaded at that place, while the buyer takes over after unloading and handles what comes next.

When to use DPU

Use this term when the buyer wants the shipment to arrive ready for handover without needing their own unloading team or equipment on-site. It’s especially useful when the destination is a warehouse, job site, or facility where unloading must be planned and done carefully. This rule is not a substitute for choosing a safe unloading location—if the site can’t handle unloading (no dock, no forklift, tight access), delays and extra fees can happen.

How Transportify supports DPU

Transportify helps you plan the delivery leg so the drop-off is smooth, predictable, and properly coordinated. You can choose the right vehicle option, set clear pickup and drop-off instructions, and align schedules so unloading can happen with less confusion. If you’re working under DPU, that kind of coordination reduces missed handovers and last-minute changes.
