Perhaps one of the most problematic yet significant aspects of a business-no matter the size is logistics. How do they take their products from point A to point B at the most efficient yet effective way?
The concern for SMEs, especially businesses that are still on their primary years, is that the most obvious way to purchase their own vehicle with the sole purpose of logistics. The catch, however, is that this solution is also very costly. The expenses of maintaining and owning a vehicle, most particularly ones that are made for delivery like vans and small trucks, is not cheap. This only increases the capital required to start and operate your business.
So how do you solve this problem in a practical and cost-efficient way? Simple, you outsource. But a smarter way to do it? Outsource when you need it.
As they say these days, there’s an app for everything. Surely, there’s an app to help you move your supplies and products from your warehouse to the store, or perhaps even directly to the consumer. An on demand delivery app is now a touch-click away.
Transportify, the local arm of the international logistics transportation app Deliveree, recently launched in Mega Manila. Being available internationally, it’s technology and systems are the result of years of development and lessons learned from operating multiple international markets including Thailand and Indonesia. Other local players offering similar services include Mober and Etobee for logistics and Grab and GrabCar, Uber, and UberX for regular transport that is also sometimes used for goods.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
This delivery app is simple to use. For starters, you install Transportify on your smartphone or use the web app and you are good to go. When using the app, you enter the pick-up and destination locations. You can choose up to 10 destinations in a single booking. The next step is to choose the right sized vehicle for your load (the smaller the vehicle, the lower the price). Before you confirm, the app will provide you a clear and itemized price. The pricing is very competitive compared to local logistics providers and even a little bit lower than other local app based competitors.
OTHER PLAYERS IN THE SPACE
Mober, Etobee, Grab, GrabCar, Uber, and UberX offer variations of a similar service but with substantially different feature sets and at varying prices. We strongly recommend you try them to determine for yourself which is best for your business. A word of advice, any app that does not provide you with a clear up-front price before you confirm your booking should be viewed with some healthy skepticism. After all, businesses are much more sensitive to pricing and margin than individuals.
